total package

The Total Package

When He was much younger, I once heard my nephew Kamau, a filmmaker, say He was the ``Total Package.’’   There are a lot of young Brothers who think they really have it all together. Kamau spent five years in Wash D.C. looking for work after college.  We were so glad He graduated from college, that I at least, made little contingency for His finding a ``good job.’’ Not to be outdone, Kamau found Ways to create a job for Himself and when even that wouldn’t work out correctly in the United States – now considered by some Progressives -- including myself -- as the United States of Native America -- He moved to a foreign country to make a decent living for Himself and lay down roots. I think He is reaching success and is a good man.

What often follows Brothers is an unwillingness to deal with root issues such as anger, depression, self-hatred inbred from a hateful dominate culture and a Black community that is itself too often self-hateful, suspicious, deceptive & unwilling to get involved in the kind and character of self-healing that needs to take place for real economic freedom, decency and self-awareness to take hold. I’m talking about long-term therapy and other mental health supports that will lead to a better life, more useful personal relationships, a higher level of emotional intelligence & more emotional stability.

The ``Total Package’’ doesn’t spring, in my humble opinion, from having a nice car, nice clothing, a stable job, a nice stable family, or ``the good life.’’ The ``Total Package’’ is a Black man who has most of all that, or none of that but is aware of His self-growth issues and taking hold to have them addressed in a consistent and on-going manner.  He should also have a high ethical standard, deplore racism, I have depression issues, but I embrace justice, decency, & LOVe others as much as possible.  I am overweight, have high-blood pressure, and have a very low income level. Being able to take advantage of opportunities, no matter How small, is part of the ``Total Package’’ equation also. I recently failed there.  Yet I think I’m reaching, at 58, ``Total Package’’ status. It may take about another week, but I’m patient and I can wait. In the meantime, I’ll keep working towards it and achieving. Even in the face of being let down like I was yesterday when I was told I WOULD NOT be getting a $20,000.00 loan even though my credit score has gone UP 44 points recently and I have begun to pay old debts. I was very disappointed because I had all of the money earmarked for business development. The repayment itself would have helped my credit score and the salary I was going to pay myself. The loan was really going to help stabilize things for me.   Dealing effectively and honestly with disappointments is part of reaching ``Total Package’’ status. So is being able to ask men, or women out for a date, if you don’t have a significant other and want one.

Taking care of one’s health is part of being a ``Total Package,’’ but it’s not just physical health, but also mental health. Take time for yourself and weigh your physical attractions properly; Don’t allow yourself to act too emotionally when someone upsets you. [Don’t think I don’t still have issues with anger, because I do.} This is just having to deal properly with emotions, self-judging, and that nagging person who I keep giving power to so He can upset me. From a future ``Total Package:’’ calm down; relax; put your feel up; listen to jazz; listen to GOD quietly; work as you can and please, if possible; and don’t let life upset you. Enjoy it!!

Only God Knows...

You know when they say, What Happens in Rio, L.A. & Las Vegas stays in those places? Well this really isn't true. GOD knows all and He knows what you did exactly, who you did it with, why you did it, what your motivations were, how long you did it, and How many times you went back for more. He also knows if you paid for what you took, or took it for free. He also knows if you destroyed some one's life; how often you lied; did you hurt someone; and How you benefited from what you did. I don't believe in sin. I think what you did is your business and I don't think you should feel guilty as long as you didn't hurt anyone or cause human or property damage, steal, or confiscate something that doesn't belong to you and as long as you didn't needlessly hurt some one's feelings.  What interpersonal reasons there are for destroying someone else's life, be it greed, money, hatred, self-hate, repugnance, or whatever, you should hand those feelings over to GOD and your therapist and stop feeling guilty. Don't let someone blame you for having human desires of LOVe and for having a libido. Where do you think the libido came from in the first place? It came from and comes from GOD!!  NOT feeling guilty for LOVing someone and expressing that LOVe is something wonderful and joyous & something GOD wants us to do. My church says God is LOVe and LOVe is for everyone--no matter who you are. No matter what your skin color is; no matter what your race and ethnicity are; no matter what country you come from and no matter if you are straight, gay, bisexual, or trans. No matter what class you are born into; no matter if you are White, Black, or of any other ethnic group.  [By the Way, even though I haven't gone in a long time -- about seven weeks-- my home church is still Unity Fellowship Christ Church of Philadelphia which is located inside the Arch Street United Methodist Church's Chapel at 55 North Broad Street in Philadelphia. Come and join us for service at 2 P.M. on Sundays or at the same location on Tuesdays at 6:30 P.M. for Spiritual Study. I presently have some difficulties with the church, but I'll be back on Sunday, September 6th, 2015.] Remember, GOD is LOVe and LOVe is for everybody, but this doesn't give any of us the right to hurt other People's feelings, or hurt People physically or financially or exploit people or be hurtful or be nasty spiritually or hateful. These are un-Christian concepts and should be avoided.  Even if we are a waring faction of a so called terrorist cell or a general in the United States of Native America's Army. Stop feeling guilty.  LOVe & Be LOVed!!!

Somethng Positive From Haiti.....

An Open Letter to Brother Harold

There is a Black LLC that handles construction in the Maryland area in an expert manner. One of the main things they also do is oversee work on rebuilding Haiti in a masterful, professional, and up-beat Way. Brother Harold is Haitian Himself, and is not playing when it comes to making sure things are done there in a Way that will be systemic, lasting, professional and on-going.  He has a vast vision of making the first FREE Black country in the Western Hemisphere -- Haiti-- become economically pliable; financially sound;  a good, positive location for raising children; a place with stable schools & good safe places for People to relax & enjoy life; and a great motivator & role model for other Black countries to follow.

How is Brother Harold Charles bringing this about in Haiti? He is dedicated, hard-working, positive thinking, proud to be Haitian, and He has a company -- CEEPCO? [Look up] that won't quit in crating a host of policies that are forward-moving; well-financed; and positive in the face of the disaster earthquake that almost totally demolished the entire Back country of Haiti.  By getting a host of licenses, certifications, and qualifications for His company and His staff, He has created a true level of professionalism that can't be overlooked or ignored by the oligarchy.

[This article is in the development stages and MUST be researched properly. It Will be finished by Jul 10th, 2015.]...

Witney Houston Another Black Saint gone, but not forgotten & Here in Her Music.....

Whitney Houston is dead. We have to face it. She lives on in Her music & as a Black Saint-Spirit through the voices of all who She inspired & She lives on through Her own voice.  She lived a hard life, but She found time to LOVe, laugh, & listen. It will possibly take a million years before we have another Black talent of Her virility, vitality and inner-Spirited diversity. She danced, sang, and acted with an incredible caliber of excellence. She gave Her all, but She didn't have to leave us so soon.

Much of Her difficulty came in the way She was managed as a talent. Clive Davis is mostly credited with having discovered Her. Unfortunately he didn't know quite what to do with Her. Instead of coddling & making a protected existence for Her, he made sure to get every dime out of Her like the foolish men who took the life of the Goose who laid the Golden eggs. Sister Houston should have had plenty of rest, plenty of sleep, plenty of vitamins, plenty of Black history and wisdom to listen to, plenty of wholesome food like whole grains, wheat barley, wheat germ, wheat bread, fruits, vegetables, tofu, wheat gluten, tempet, wild rice, salads, brown rices & wild rices, naturally unsweetened juices & delicious desserts prepared by a chef who knew what She was doing. She should have had the time for Her family & time to heal from the stress & strain brought on by a tight concert & movie-making schedule that should hot have been so tight. She should have been surrounded by People who LOVed & Respected Her. She should have had more positive & challenging movie and film roles and been given privy to leadership production roles as well. She should have been protected by People who wanted only the best for Her. She should have had no access to illegal drugs. She should have had therapy with a trained & qualified psychiatrist if She needed it. She should have never been told psycho therapy is for ``crazy'' people. We as Black African, Black African American,  Black Caribbean, & Black Diaspora business People, male and female [or perhaps even transgendered Black People] should have never allowed what happened to Whitney Huston, happen to Her. We failed Her. I won't go into what I think of Clive Davis. But there needs to be a Black talent Agency & Black talent managers who create a broad, bold & Loving safe environment for Black talent, instead of exploit them. Perhaps there needs to be even more than one such agency and they don't need to be fronted by White money or White People. We have the wherewithal right in our communities to create such agencies when we get to being real and stop the foolishness. This is our responsibility as Black People....

Resume Resume
Resume Philosophy: I feel that with the job market flooded the way it is, I might as well tell my full story and try to get a JOB that way, as opposed to only giving a brief sketch in my resume, the way the job professionals want one to do.  This Way, if there is something a possible employer doesn't like He or She can just pass me by instead of wasting his or her time and mine with an interview.  Also: the professional JOB finders say to Never, EVER let a potential employer know about your ethnic background.  I find this ridiculous.  Any potential employer who will NOT respect me as a Black man doesn't deserve to even consider getting me as an employee.

I also helped found Adodi Philadelphia Inc., and was a leading core member for this support group and support system for Same Gender Loving Black Men.  Adodi has since evolved into a National Organization that holds a National Retreat each year at different locations.  They also hold different constructive meetings and workshops during the year regarding various issues including: family structure; homophobia; & self-esteem issues.
TRAVEL:
I traveled to Cuba, South Africa, Canada, Porto Rico and various points within the United States such as Los Angeles, San Francisco, Wash, D.C., Denver, Colorado, and Aspen, Colorado; Columbus, Dayton and Cleveland, Ohio; Miami, Florida; and New York City [mostly Manhattan and Brooklyn] in my continuing journey to learn and grow.
OTHER COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT:
I have a deep concern for the Black community in which I live and I want to see people of ALL races who have been left out of the process become included in the process towards positive development, a clean environment, sustainability and economic and social equality.  I have written literally hundreds of letters to Civic Leaders, Community Leaders, Political Leaders, entertainers, business People, clergy, government officials, and so forth, in an effort to promote the issues of left out Black youth and disenfranchised people throughout the world; and those who might not be able to advocate for themselves.  Groups I have advocated for include [But are NOT limited to] : The income-challenged or economically disenfranchised; Same Gender Loving people of Color; Black, Latin and other disenfranchised people and youth; the Elderly; Women and Muslim women of color; Black youth; and people of ALL races who have been left out of the process toward political and economic freedom, inclusion, hope and equality..
OVERCOMING ADVERSITY:
I was diagnosed as a person with bipolar illness in 1982 / 1983 and managed to work and / or go to school for about 15 years after that before I went on disability.  I had many ups and downs and was hospitalized, but still managed to do my work consistently, especially after 1999.  I haven't been hospitalized for the last 13 years.  I have worked hard on writing my own books; reading and researching numerous issues; and starting a corporation dedicated to the advancement and reconstruction of Black Youth.  I want to get back in the workforce and I would like to do so, most of all, as a consultant, or as the leader of my own corporation.  I am a hard worker, a dedicated worker and an honest person.  I hope you will take me on as a consultant.  YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED.

I Strongly Suggest Our Black Youth Read ``Ethical Ambition,’’ By Derrick Bell
A Father’s Day Tip From An Earth Father, Brother Tracy Gibson…
The Following quote is from ``Ethical Ambition,’’ by Derrick Bell. This book was read by me several years ago and helped me create an inner peace, solace, and ethical determination for myself as I go about the work of helping myself stabilize economically, and continue to work for social, economic and political justice and equality for Black youth and the same for ALL Black People on the earth. I believe doing so creates decency and fairness for AL the world’s People.

Page 19, the first full paragraph. From Chapter One, The Power in Passion. ``Ethical Ambition. Living a Life of Meaning and Worth’’ by Derrick Bell. Copyright 2002; Published by Bloomsbury, New York, London; Distributed to the trade by Holtzbrinck Publishers.
``Living in the midst of a culture of hypocrisy and legalized but no less damaging practices, it is understandable that the slippery road toward unethical behavior too often follows the conclusion that we can’t pursue our heart’s passion and adhere to ethical standards.  Avoiding being drawn into this seemingly pragmatic posture requires a character of resistance that is enhanced by a passion for integrity rather than success.  Adherence to that passion can be sacrificial, but it can also enable achievement s that are more impressive than those attained by people who believe that there is no place for ethical passion in a hard-hearted world.’’

Page 69. From Chapter Two; Courage and Risk Taking.  The 8th line of the first full paragraph. Same book as above: ``Under a barrage of bad publicity and falling stock prices, Texaco settled the case for $176 Million and agreed to an outside task force to review hiring and promotional policies intended to eradicate the corporate culture of bigotry that made the law suit necessary.’’
My comments: This book ``Ethical Ambition’’ is important on many fronts. One: It will help Black youth, and it was written by a Black man, it will help Black youth have a calmer understanding of the forces they are up against and How to effectively wage Peace against them without getting too emotional and giving into violence, hatred, self-imposed greed, negativity and instead face the day of progressive advocacy with a free spirit and with effectiveness in an on-going & consistent manner. There are sections of the book’s short six chapters that deal directly with the Gay & Lesbian community and How such communities can wage ethical battles non-violently and have the ethical upper hand.  It is a strongly suggested read for Black youth, no matter what their station in life is, no matter what their religious beliefs are, and no matter what their sexual orientation is.
